WGME Christmas Scramble - Yas Links
Womens Golf Middle East held their first event in Abu Dhabi at the new Yas Links Golf Club situated on Yas Island. The golf course was in excellent condition and made for an exciting days golf on this superbly designed links course.
The wind came up during the morning and added to the links feel, making conditions challenging for the four lady teams. The event was a Texas Scramble format with teams from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Winning the first place prize was the team from Emirates Golf Club, Maria Carrigy, Carmel King, Maggie Neil and Lynn Rowley who came in with an excellent 63 Net.
In second place the team of Sharon Hall, Sabine Wiedenbruch, Angela Laidlaw and Sue Markou did well to secure a 67 Net, with Sharon and Sabine both members of Yas Island adding an advantage with their course knowledge.
The team of Susan Harrison, Carol Burns, Lynn Born and Helen McAinsh came in third place with a Net score of 67. The special events were won by Lyzette Breytenbach and Sharon Hall both from Abu Dhabi.
