WOMEN
How to obtain a handicap under the USGA Handicap System for EGF Handicap Scheme Members?
Playing certificate
 - A player must firstly obtain a Playing Certificate which proves she has sufficient ability and knowledge of the Rules of Golf and Etiquette to be able to play on the golf course. Playing Certificates can be authorised only by a PGA qualified Golf Professional.
Gaining a handicap
 - To gain a handicap a player must enter five game into the system. If you already have a handicap it will be transferred to the new system and will be adjusted after five games have been entered into the system.
Handicaps van be viewed via the internet on www.golferscard.ae. Simply by using your EGF number as your username and the password provided by the EGF, you can find our all you need to know about your current handicap status.
You are also able to view other players' handicaps and game history, print your own handicap, update your profile, send and receive messages to and from the EGF and monitor your "projected" and "live" handicap.
A player will hold a Handicap Index, which is the handicap figure calculated from scores submitted from previous rounds. The Course Handicap is the handicap of a particular golf course, which is calculated off the slope rating of that golf course.
The standard Slope Rating of a golf course is 113. The figure is the difficulty of the golf course rating to a Bogey Golfer. The higher the number over 113 the more difficult the golf course.
Equitable Stroke Control Means: Recording or adjusting the score to a maximum amount you can have on a hole. If a player fails to complete a hole (eg. Stableford format) then he must record one shot more than the last shot that he would be able to score a point on.
Eg. 10 Handicap Stroke Index 5 - he has a shot - maximum stroke allowed is 7.
You can access the EGF website to find out more information on the new handicapping system.
